ASB Elections

Future Nighthawk Leaders:
Are you interested in an ASB position for 2025-2026? If so, please read on!
There are numerous leadership opportunities in ASB. These include commissioners, executives, and class presidents. Please see below for important dates and additional information on each of these.
ASB Election Timeline:
- Wednesday, December 11th: Lunch information meeting in the ASB room (B128) for all interested in a commissioner position. A copy of the presentation from this meeting can be found here. This is a job specific position (see options) that will be open to our current 9th-11th grade students. Students selected for these positions will enroll in the ASB class for the third trimester of the current school year and first and second trimesters of the following school year.
- Thursday, December 12th: Lunch information meeting in the ASB room (B128) for all interested in class president or vice president. A copy of the presentation from this meeting can be found here.
- Elected students will be enrolled in the ASB class all three trimesters of next school year (and will have the option to enroll in the class for the third trimester of this school year). The responsibilities of the class presidents/vice presidents include:
- Designing and leading the building of the freshman homecoming float
- Selecting and leading the class council
- Fundraising
- Serving as a leader and role model for your class
- Assist with the planning and implementation of other ASB activities (This will include hours outside of the school day, sometimes evenings and weekends.)
- Thursday, January 9th: Lunchtime drop-in to the ASB room (B128) to answer final questions regarding the ASB application or election process.
- Friday, January 10th (1:07pm/end of lunch): Last day for all applications and staff recommendations to be turned in to the ASB room (B128). No exceptions!
- Week of January 13th - 17th: Campaign Week & Interviews (Class Presidents and Executive Applicants only).
- Friday, January 17th: Election Day! Late January/Early February (exact dates tbd): Interviews for Commissioner Applicants
- Friday, February 16th: All commissioner applicants are contacted regarding their acceptance

ASB Commissioners:
Current 9th - 11th grade students are eligible to apply for a commissioner position. Candidates must have at least a 2.0 grade point average during the preceding trimester with no disciplinary records in the current school year. ASB Commissioner positions are a full year commitment, Trimester 3, Trimester 1, Trimester 2 and all ASB Commissioners are required to enroll in the ASB class third trimester of this school year and first and second trimester of next school year. Please visit the ASB room (B128) with any questions.

ASB Executives:
There are a total of eight ASB Executive positions available. Interested students must have been enrolled in the DNHS ASB class for at least a year, be an upperclassmen, and have at least a 2.0 grade point average during the preceding trimester with no disciplinary records in the current school year. (For the position of ASB Vice President/Executive of Finance, the applicant must have been enrolled in the DNHS ASB class for at least a year prior to their term in office, served their full term, and have a minimum of one year experience in the finance committee. They must be in their sophomore or junior year and have at least a 2.0 grade point average during the preceding trimester with no disciplinary records in the current school year.) ASB Executive positions are a full year commitment, and all ASB Executives are required to enroll in the ASB class third trimester of this school year and first and second trimester of next school year. Class Co-Presidents:
There are a total of two co-presidents per class/grade level. Candidates must have at least a 2.0 grade point average during the preceding trimester with no disciplinary records in the current school year. Class president positions are a full year commitment, and class presidents are required to enroll in the ASB class for all three trimesters of the coming school year. (Senior class presidents have the option but are not required to enroll in the ASB class in the third trimester of their senior year.)
