Dual Enrollment
What is Dual Enrollment?
Dual Enrollment is a CCAP partnership between Del Norte High School and Palomar College, and CSU San Marcos. CCAP is the California College and Career Access Pathways, which allows high school students to take college courses, taught by college faculty, on the high school campus. High school students are provided an opportunity to achieve high academic goals through college coursework in a challenging, supportive, and motivating setting. Students may earn significant college credit, a certificate, and/or an AA degree upon high school graduation, as well as credits towards a high school diploma.
Things to Consider Before Taking a College Course:
- Grades: They become part of your official college record.
- Impact on Financial Aid: Failing a class could negatively affect future financial aid.
- Transferability: Not all courses are transferable to every four-year university.
- College Expectations: Adjusting to college-level content and faculty expectations may be challenging.
- Privacy (FERPA): As a college student, parents/guardians cannot speak to professors directly regarding your academic matters.
Requirements:
- Students must be in the 10th - 12th grade to sign up
- Minimum GPA requirement of a 2.00
- Must meet the minimum school day attendance requirement (10th and 11th Grade students can only have 1 off-roll per trimester)
- Fall 2025 Courses: Students must request a 1st-period off-roll in the 1st & 2nd Trimester.
- Spring 2026 Courses: Students must request a 1st-period off-roll in the 2nd & 3rd Trimester.
