Volunteer
The Poway Unified School District thanks you for your dedication and diligence in the work you do for our schools. We love our volunteers because they contribute so much time and energy to our students and staff. Our schools would not be what they are without you.
- Are you a RETIREE? Click here for more information about how Retirees can become involved.
- There are two types of volunteers:
- Level 1 – This is the most common type of volunteer. Level I volunteers are allowed to work with students under the supervision of staff. Level I volunteers are not allowed to be left alone with students.
- Level 2 – For volunteers who will work in isolation with students, e.g., Safety Patrol Coordinator, Robotics Coaches, Volunteer Band Instructors. Level II volunteers will have significant unsupervised contact with students.
Each Volunteer type must be approved annually by the school and District.
For Level II volunteers, please note that since this allows for “significant unsupervised contact with students” there are additional requirements that need to be completed.

Volunteer Reminders
- Individuals will not be allowed to volunteer until notified by the school site that they are cleared to begin.
- When you come to volunteer, please sign in and out. All volunteers at each of our school sites are required to sign in at the office and put on a name tag. You must do this each day you volunteer. This helps us identify people on our campus and helps keep our kids safe. Thank you for remembering to do this!
- For private vehicle transportation for students, you will need to fill out and return this form before the trip: Private Vehicle Transportation for Student's off-site Student Experience .
- If you are feeling ill or have any symptoms related to cold, flu or COVID-19, please do not volunteer.
