At Del Norte High School, we believe in creating as many opportunities as possible for our students to own their future. That is why we offer the PSAT/NMSQT® (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) to our students. Whether your child is thinking about attending a two or four year college, is going straight into the workforce or is not sure what they want to do after high school, the PSAT/NMSQT can help make their path clearer.

Results from the PSAT/NMSQT provide insights into your child’s academic strengths, along with areas they can work on while still in high school. In addition, 11th grade students MUST take this exam to enter into the National Merit Scholarship competition from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).

Taking the PSAT/NMSQT can also help your child to:

  • Enter the National Merit® Scholarship Program if they meet program requirements specified in the PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide. 11th grade students must take the PSAT/NMSQT in order to be eligible.
  • See where they are and set a target for where they want to be.
  • Practice and prepare for the SAT®.
  • Find out what AP® courses they’re ready to take.
  • Plan and pay for college.
  • Connect to their future career.

This fall the PSAT/NMSQT will be administered in a new digital format—followed by the SAT in spring 2024—that will provide an overall easier testing experience for students. Students will use their own personal device (laptop or tablet) school-issued device provided to them that day.

Registration information:

Del Norte High School is administering the PSAT/NMSQT to interested 10th and 11th grade students on Saturday, October 14th. The PSAT is offered digitally, and students must take the test on campus on test day. We are only offering the PSAT/NMSQT to currently enrolled DNHS students.

Please complete and submit the PSAT/NMSQT registration form or purchase the test through our webstore by September, 8th. With the new digital format late payments and registrations will not be accepted.
